Solution

Client: NASA Goddard Space Flight Center

Project: Automate the operation of a complex array of lab equipment to simulate the returns seen by a space-based laser rangefinder.

Solution: We helped design an electro-optical test station that integrated an optical detector, laser transmitter, digital waveform generator, digital oscilloscope, and assorted other hardware. We wrote LabView code for the controller PC, which sequenced the operation of various instruments. The PC also communicated with the master test computer, which in turn controlled the satellite instrument during all phases of testing. The local PC executed the test sequence, crunched the resulting data, and presented a real-time "dashboard" view to the test technician. The system also included a data storage and playback mode which enabled scientists and engineers to review the data.

Client: US Army RDECOM

Project: Program a lab test station to perform automated Quaity Assurance testing on chemical/biological air filters.

The ECBC lab at Aberdeen Proving Ground already had a test station controlled by LabView; our task was to modify and extend the code to control a more complex test station that could use "dead time" between sets of readings on Filter 1 to perform testing on Filter 2, ultimately streamlining the test process and increasing lab throughput.

Client: Corvis Corporation

Project: Design, build and program multiple different electro-optical test stations to automate and integrate engineering and manufacturing testing for the Corvis Optical Switch both in the lab and on the manufacturing floor.

Corvis Corporation needed a series of stand-alone, fully integrated electro-optical test stations that could be operated by technician-level manufacturing employees to test company's flagship product, the all-optical internet backbone switch. The project included integrating (the electro-mechanical-optical test station design) and sequencing (using LabView) a complex array of tunable lasers, waveform generators, digital oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers, and associated instrumentation. The software was designed to be run by a manufacturing technician, and offered a simple user interface with pass/fail result, and a detailed set of reports keyed off the device under test's serial number and logged to the ERP system database for further review.

Client: Nautilus Advisors

Project: Build a custom web application with controlled user access, user input screen, custom math algorithms, and report generation.

We used PHP and MySQL to create an application that captured the complexity of Nautilus Advisor's proprietary business services pricing models, which allowed a subscriber to log in, enter specific information about their particular profile, and receive a formatted report detailing pricing and configuration information for their business services environment.

Client: Sundog Productions

Project: Create custom software to automate employee time tracking, manufacturing workflow, and quality control analysis. Also design and build a public website for this maker of hand-dyed casual wear.

Solution: The objective was to track a batch of goods through the seven stage manufacturing process, while tracking employee time, workflow, and enabling quality control troubleshooting. We developed a custom Visual Basic/Access back-end, coupled to stations on the manufacturing floor with integrated barcode scanners, to enable technician-level employees to track their work thorough the entire raw-goods-to-shipped-product cycle. Also set up administrator software which allowed HR, Production Planning, and Shipping to track employee productivity and pay, schedule and launch new orders onto the manufacturing floor, and track quality control issues.
